Eleven Fates

How much would it cost to be chosen by the gods? How much to be forgotten?

Torpid Gaming Network presents Eleven Fates, a new Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition live-play campaign set in an original homebrew world where the gods live and walk among the mortals. Our players have been chosen by these Fates as champions to do incredible things...but the will of the gods is rarely what it first seems.

Three strangers, each with their own motivations and secrets, arrive in town the day of an annual festival. When all three are unexpectedly selected as champions of the gods, they are thrust into an exciting and unexpected adventure...but not everyone is pleased with the fates they’ve been cast.

“That's how you sit on a chair: the working way.”

Kasillian, Rowena, and Hunted Jewel start to get a taste of what being a champion of the gods will entail. Kas is confronted with a challenge from his past, while HJ learns more about the party’s mysterious Dwarven acquaintance. When the teenage granddaughter of an old friend is suddenly poisoned, the party leaps into action, but quickly discover that being heroes might mean more heartache than excitement.

“There are no shortcuts in life.”

With two victims of poison but only one dose of the antidote, the party races against the clock to try and save them both and takes an exhausting ride to the desolate, haunted ruins of Griffon’s Roost. There, the appearance of an unexpected ally allows HJ to look toward his future, but Kas and Rowena are both forced to continue confronting the pasts they’ve tried to run from.

“I feel like a lot happened in the time it took me to headbutt a dude...”

All is not well at the Smythe homestead as Brutus appears for his first duel with an exhausted Kas. However, the party also meets a new ally in Alanna, a Dwarven smith who arrives looking for supplies and assistance with what could be a world-altering discovery. Kas faces his nemesis, Rowena faces her grief, and HJ faces himself as new troubles continue to chase the chosen champions.

“But here’s the thing: deals only work when people trust each other.”

After seeing Kas vanish, the rest of the party rushes back to Aria, where they encounter a “friend” by the name of Courtney. Of course, Courtney is not what she seems, and the party quickly find themselves striking a deal to do her a strange errand in exchange for the return of Kas. HJ continues to cut his claws as an adventurer, but Rowena’s past continues to loom in their shadows as they race to recover their missing friend.

“Son, if I was afraid of threatening people, I wouldn’t be here right now.”

While still working to recover Kas, Rowena and HJ have a series of other reunions, first with their mysterious Dwarven acquaintance Gee, and then with HJ’s Tabaxi mentor Ghost Rising. The pair also learn more about who Courtney really is, and what repercussions that might have for their party, only increasing Rowena’s hypervigilance and constant suspicion. HJ finally gains valuable information on the nature of his quest, but the truth may mean the end of his boundless optimism.

“So what kind of person are you then?”

 

Kas has an extraplanar experience with his new best friend Gary. HJ learns some hard truths about his clan and pours his energy into trying to learn more about the Wizard Cor’s “forbidden magic.” Rowena withdraws further into her own dark worries. The party finally reunites physically, but after such a relentless barrage of bizarre events, cracks are beginning to surface in their strange Fate-forged bond...

Ambushed by terrible creatures on the road to Fallen Scale, the party is aided by the mysterious Lefty, a local legend who provides safe passage to travelers. Ghost Rising reappears to give HJ more information about his quest. Lefty tells the party about the Fates he’s met while trying to learn about his own strange powers. And of course, Fallen Scale’s never-before-beaten Biggest Burger eating contest brings out both some competitive streaks and some interesting results.

Finally encountering someone who might have answers about his strange powers, Lefty is given the cryptic task of “changing a life,” and asks to stay with the party as they attempt their cabbage-cactus heist. HJ struggles with the real weight of his quest. Rowena offers Kas some unexpected aid before retreating alone into her own concerns. Kas reaches the cusp of a revelation about his adventuring past.
